Age 83, of Ohio Township, on Tuesday December 6, 2022. Beloved husband of Arlene R. (Bigler) Lucas; also survived by aunt Jane (Donald) Rubolino; nephews, Craig (Andrea) Lucas and Michael Lucas; sister -in-law, Lorraine Lucas; brother-in-law, H. Melvin (Madelyn) Bigler; nieces, Alex Lucas and Lucinda Hughes; great-nieces, great-nephews,and cousins. Preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene and John Lucas; father, John Lucas; mother, Anna (Leybick) Lucas O'Neil, nephew Jeffrey Lucas, and stepfather, Lawrence C. O'Neil. Jim was known for his quick wit and great sense of humor. His interests were reading, photography, painting landscapes, gardening, landscaping, cooking, and caring for a feral cat colony, woodland creatures and "Miss Piggy", River Casino, the Steelers, and Vegas. Jim participated in the Christmas Bird Count since 1994. He attended Horace Mann Grade School, Avalon, Ben Avon, and Avonworth High Schools, where he enjoyed playing football. His occupations included roofing, carpet installing/cleaning, corrections officer (Western Penitentiary), and weldor. Family suggests donations to UPMC Children's Hospital Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Animal Friends, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, or Western PA School for the Deaf. Friends Received 12 noon - 6 pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.
