Karen A. Murphy

Karen A. (Yurkovich) Murphy, age 70, of the Northside,  passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026.  Beloved Wife of the late Robert J. Murphy; Mother of Billy Murphy, Janeen Csurilla, and Nichole Murphy; Grandmother of Jaice Csurilla, Taylor, Bobby and Ava Kainz, and Camryn Murphy; daughter of the late Frank and Anna Yurkovich.

Relatives and Friends will be received from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Sunday at the Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, Inc., 3552 California Avenue at Davis Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA    15212,  where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am. 

Karen had a joyful spirit and a deep love for music and laughter.  She especially loved singing karaoke with her lifelong friend Laurie Yakamovich and dancing to her favorite oldies, filling rooms with smiles and creating moments that will be cherished forever.  Music was her happiness, and her joy was contagious.

Family meant everything to her.  She took great pride in making memories with her loved ones and was never happier than when everyone was together.  She loved opening her home to family and friends, especially when out-of-town relatives came to visit.  Her gatherings were filled with love, food, music, and laughter, and her home was always a place where everyone felt welcome.  

Karen was a devoted mother.  Her love, guidance, and strength shaped the lives of her children and will continue to live on through them.  Though dementia slowly took pieces of her memory, it never took away the love she carried within her or the impact she made on everyone who knew her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and medical professionals who provided compassion and support during her illness.  Nicole
