Olga Petruska

Olga Petruska, age 90, of Avalon, on Saturday, August 6, 2022.  Daughter of the late Michael and Tekla Petruska, both Ukrainian immigrants.  Olga was born and raised in Woods Run.  She was a beloved sister to 11 siblings, all of whom preceded her in death:  Ann, Rose, Matthew, Andrew, John, Alice, Myron, Michael, Jr., and William, as well as infants Tillie and Paul.  Olga leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Theodora Petruska of Pittsburgh and Jean Petruska of Hernando, Florida.  She also had many nieces and nephews to whom she leaves a legacy of happy memories of family gatherings and traditional Ukrainian holiday celebrations.

Olga was a lifelong music lover who played guitar and accordion, and also sang in the church choir for many years.  She enjoyed dancing, reading, and international travel.  She worked for many years as a transcriptionist at AGH in the psychiatry department and had the distinction of being credited by an esteemed physician in a published work.

Olga was a very unique person with a giving heart and a quick wit.  Though she endured many struggles in recent years, she maintained her sense of humor and inquisitiveness throughout her life.  Olga left an impression on everyone she met.  She loved to talk to people and was widely known for having a hard time saying goodbye.  Those who knew and loved her will cherish the precious memories, with faith that Olga has found her way over the rainbow.

Friends will be received Sunday, August 14 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, Inc., 3552 California Ave. at Davis Ave, Pittsburgh, PA   15212.  Parastas Sunday at 7:30 p.m.  Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held Monday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church.
