In Loving Memory of Von Gregory Guyton

Von Gregory Guyton, age 50, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Von was a beloved son, brother, father, stepfather, grandfather, uncle, nephew and friend. To know Von was to know someone who loved being around people. He enjoyed good food, good competition, good conversation, and most of all, spending time with the people he loved.

A true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Von enjoyed watching football and could always find a reason to talk about the game. One of his favorite stories to tell was about the time he made a great catch during a football game at Woodland Hills. It was a memory he was proud of and one he never seemed to get tired of sharing.

Von loved a good family cookout. He especially enjoyed being outside, grilling, laughing, hanging out with family and friends, and enjoying the simple moments that brought everyone together. For Von, it wasn't just about the food—it was about who was gathered around the grill with him.

Von enjoyed fishing as well as a little friendly competition. Whether it was dominoes, darts, corn hole, a game of pool, or horseshoes, Von was always ready to play. Those games created countless memories filled with laughter, jokes, competition, and maybe a little trash talk along the way.

Family was at the heart of Von's life. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Viola Brown; his sister, Cynthia Brown; his brothers, James Jerome Brown and Shaun Guyton Sr., and sister-in-law Amy Guyton; his beloved son, Von Guyton Jr.; his former wife and mother of his son, Reanell Thornton; his stepdaughters, Katrina Christy & Charnell Hines and son-in-law, Doug Hines; his cherished grandchildren, Tristan, Landon and Zamari; and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, extended family members, and dear friends.

Von was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Marian Guyton; paternal grandfather, Samuel Guyton; maternal grandmother Willa Brown; maternal grandfather, William (Bootsy) Brown; father, Gregory Guyton; aunt; Lisa Sandling , uncle; Terry Sandling and niece; Shauntay Brown.

The memories of Von will live on in the things he loved most: a Steelers game on television, the smell of food cooking on the grill, a family gathering, friends sitting around laughing, and a competitive game where everyone wanted to win. His stories, his laughter, and the way he brought people together will never be forgotten.

Von's family takes comfort in knowing that he spent his final moments surrounded by love. Although his passing leaves a tremendous void, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain with his family and friends forever.

He was loved in life, surrounded by love in his final moments, and will continue to be loved long after his passing.

Rest peacefully, Von.
