Allison Park

Jack Robert Scherer, 25, of Allison Park passed away tragically on Wednesday, April 1st, 2020.  Jack was studying to obtain his PhD in Chemistry at the University of  North Texas, in Denton, Texas, after graduating from La Roche University with his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry.  Jack was always full of life.  He enjoyed painting, being outdoors, finding time to fish, camp and canoeing. He had a large group of friends who he considered his extended family, they were a very significant part of his life.  Jack enjoyed anything to do with sports, having played football, hockey, golf, basketball, video games, weight lifting, disc golf and most recently found a passion for rock climbing.  Jack was the youngest of four children, whose closeness cannot be described.  Family meals, birthday celebrations, holidays and vacations with his siblings and friends were cherished memories.  He was also willing to help with any family project, because no project was a concern if it meant family time for him.  He was always surrounded by many pets (Liaka, Finn Mertens, Davey and Rosie) and many fur nieces and nephews.  He cherished any time that he was able to spend with his niece and nephews, and was a doting godfather to his youngest nephew.  His passion in life was chemistry and he had the desire to help the world in any way he possibly could.  His education was very important to him, and he strived to learn everything he could and always wanted to continue to learn as much as he was able, even finding time to teach himself how to speak fluent Spanish.  He is survived by his parents, Ben and Christine Scherer; his sibings, Ben (Katelyn) Scherer, Jr., Harmonie (Thomas)  Torchia, Jocelyn (Phillip) Gold; and his niece and nephews, Maxx, Everly and Maverick; his grandmothers, Viola Peifer and Barbara Scherer.  He has a large extended family, including many aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Peifer and Robert Scherer.  At this time, due to the COVID-19 virus, all services and memorials will be private until able to offer a public memorial.  All memorial information will be provided through social media, please join the group Hey there beautiful, Jack Scherer memorial page on Facebook.  We hope you're living the dream, beautiful.  Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, Inc., 3552 California Ave. at Davis Ave., Pgh., PA    15212.
